Be aware that the 35 f2 IS has strong coma abberations, which is not always mentioned/tested in reviews.. It's pretty much the only downside with the lens.. It's especially bad with streetlights and stars, but also text (signs etc), shiny things and other sharp contrasts... In some cases the background can get quite messy as well, but not always. It really depends on the kind of pictures you want to take with it, if you'll notice it and find it problematic or not, and as with many other abberations, it gets stronger out towards the edges, so it might not be noticeable at all on a crop, and then give you a surprise when you switch to FF in two years :p

The only shot in this whole set that was taken from a crop sensor camera was with a 50mm f1.4...

You have to remember that the field of view will be very different on your crop 550D than it would be on those FF cameras. If you're looking for that FOV on your 550D you should be looking at 24mm f/1.4's not 35mm's.

I repeat the intention is to get the above mentioned perspective when I move to FF not get it rightaway on crop. As of now I will manage with what I get out of the crop & 35mm combination.

550D gripped I Sigma 50mm F1.4 (Non Art) I Canon 100mm F2.0 I Nissin Di622 Mk II I YN 622C triggers I...and few other accessories

No offense, but that train of thought doesn't make any sense to me. If that perspective is what you're after and you're keeping your 550D for two years why would you shoot with a totally different focal length than the one you want for 2 years?

If I only had APS-C, Id go for the Sigma 30 Art. Otherwise, the Canon 35/2 IS. I can't speak to the 3rd party offerings like the Samyang.

I know some people get hung up on the differences in FL on APS-C when talking about the 28, 30, and 35mm FL's. But it is splitting hairs. Personally, I'd prefer a tiny bit more reach than wider for the normal-ish range.

F/2 plus a great IS implementation? It's a no brainer to me.
