I love the way everything is exposed properly and then the couple is also lit up. Is this a simple off-camera flash?

How would you analyze this photo in terms of technique and processing?

I'd love to get that look. Thanks for any tips.

They would have had the couple about 4 stops underexposed for ambient & then used a higher powered studio strobe to bring the exposure on the couple back up. That way everything in the background is darker and saturated looking while keeping the couple lit up. There was probably a neutral density filter used as well.
