I need to have a new patch made for work and i cannot for the life of me use photoshop to do what i want done. I know it can be done using photoshop but i suck at it.

I need to have the first patch have "COMMUNICATIONS" written inplace and the exact same way as police. I need police taken out. Also the center piece needs to have the indian handshack taken out and along with whats written around it. In its place i need to have EMS/FIRE/POLICE/9-1-1 put in its place using the supplied pics. I went to a local patch store but they were very unhelpfull in someways.

Here are the pics.
1. One i need updated

Again, i need a huge favor from whoever is a photoshop god.

I think there's a couple of concerns you need to reassure us over first.

Firstly - copyright. How do we know that you have permission from the copyright holders of the images to make these changes? Under UK copyright law, such derivative works usually infringe copyright, though I don't know about the rest of the world. I recognise the camera logo in the bottom right of pictures two and three from somewhere (eBay?), but can't quite place it.

Secondly - motive. I expect you have a good reason for wanting this done, but there's always a worry about people trying to make fake IDs or similar. Can you explain why you want these things done?

I'm no Photoshop guru, but I wonder how easy it will be to work with images 2 and 3, as they're photos of real cloth patches, rather than computer artwork.

i understand your concerns. I would show my work id for the first pic but like you said would worry about someone copying it. The second pics i posted i found on ebay after giving up on the internet searches. As for copywriting, the second 2 im not using anyhting but the ems/police/fire and 911 symbols which can be found on numerous patches. I drew up a patch but its very bad, and would not bother posting it.

If it did become a problem i will just remove the pics and ask the thread be closed.

I had guessed there was good reason - I just wanted to help clarify. I hope someone can help you out.

That's one part of this I do know - you can sample a colour using the eyedropper tool, also you can draw a path and then place text along that path. Do you have the right font, though?

That's actually easier than the other parts you want. First, the image is a gif (it was for me anyway when I saved it) so you need to turn it into a Photoshop document so you can do layers. I duplicated the base layer so I could black out the "police" text and keep the original layer safe. Sample the color of the text and create a text layer. Type all your text. Click the text path button in Photoshop and you can bend the baseline into many shapes -- in this case a simple arc with the degree of the arc adjusted to fit the space. Adjust the position of the text afterward and if needed keep adjusting the path arc until it fits.

The rest of the task is harder so here's just the "communications" alteration. Sorry, I don't have the exact typeface to match.

KICK ASS!!! Thats perfect!! All i have to do now is turn the yellow border around it grey/platinum like our regular patch. But dam thats sweet. I could probably print that on my photo paper and submit that to the patch people as a base now.

I really really appreciate it. But if someoen still wants at it to get the ems/police/fire and 911 symbols in the center with a match black/drk blue background be my guest.

I just went with a few ideas so could try to cover what you wanted. I drew the logos.

I showed some of my co-workers they were shocked at how great it was. I showed my LT. incharge of communications and was like WOW! I thank you again for the task of creating these images. If there's anything i can do to repay let me know.

If I get a speeding ticket can you cover that? :-)

Glad I could help. You may even want the image converted to a vector graphic in Iluustrator if you ever want it enlarged.
