While living in Colorado for 10+ years, I never made it to Colorado National Monument. This summer, the wife and I will be visiting and I'm really hoping to make it there. What I would like to know from the community is what are any recommended locations to shoot while I am there. So far, I've not been able to find any good photography information about the park and am hoping for some input from the members on this forum.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We will be visiting during the first week of September. Probably will not be there in time for morning light but plan to stay until sunset.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm from pa. and have driven through the monument a few times try to drive the park during the golden hours its 21 miles long and gives you a number of canyons and hoodoos to shoot. if you go there thenyou must go to moabto stay while you goto Arches and canyonland there is a back way in off the interstate along the colorado river go that route.

I've driven through a couple times, never in the morning. For most of the overlooks, morning light wouldn't be that good. Nearby, accessed from within the monument, is Rattlesnake Canyon with lots of natural arches. You need high clearance to get there.

A buddy of mine (Randy Langstraat) lives in Grand Junction and would be the person I would ask about Colorado National Monument photography!!
