The local club holds the only EDF event of it kind in Canada & it's about the only time I get to use high shutter speeds. The feature pilot was Terry Nitsch who demonstrated a lot of precision flying making several high speed passes with his E-flite Phantom along with some impressive aerobatics with his BVM MiG 15. Out of curiosity they checked a few passes of the Phantom with the radar gun & it was clocked at 128 & 147 MPH.

And these were flown by regulars at the event.

Frank, I cheated a bit on that one. I was standing beside him so I knew when to start shooting. Too bad it was late in the day when the sun had moved too far to the west to fully light his MiG from our point of view. He sure can fly well, making pass after pass straight down the runway at full speed while club members had a hard time landing on it without going off on one side or the other which often damaged their landing gear.

That's not cheating! It's called "Pre-planning" & is just another item on the agenda like equipment list, site check for forground/BG, etc! Just another "Pro secret" besides "Never show the "Almost shots" that didn't make it!" ; )
