a good video lens?

looking for a good but cheapish lens to use on a 1100d for video. used my 17-50 the other day and was wondering if there is a dedicated range for videoing. not the best camera to use i know but soon upgrading to the 60d......sorry if this is the wrong area

On APS-C I'd be inclined to suggest one of the 18-whatever STM's. Personally if I was doing dedicated video I'd get an external mic setup, and go for something with IS for hand-held shoots.

For video you'l mostly want equivalent FOV's of 24-50mm. Zooming in a video clip is cheesy to me. Much better is to have some rail rig for that type of effect. Video can get quite expensive.

For general purpose work on a serious budget, get an STM zoom.

thanks for the reply. its not a real serious route ill be going down. sometimes at the gym the instructor will ask me to video certain fight moves and post them so the kids have more time to watch and absorb them
