Stupid question, but isn't the B400 with a 622C a trigger-only receiver? You can't adjust the power remotely? In this case, why invest in the more expensive 622C system?

More expensive than what? The YN-622 system is pretty inexpensive for triggers that will give you ETTL and remote control of your speed lights. For use with studio strobes (not bees) like my Mettle 600AD, it's an inexpensive way to be able to use the strobe outside, above sync speed (High Speed Sync, Super Sync, whatever you want to call it).

Its probably a case of maximizing your capabilities. Ive got 5 speedlites and 4 monolights. My cybersyncs only do one job, the 622c's can operate both systems so if I had to choose only one. Also the 622c with a tx can do supersync with alien bees.

The question I now have is when I'm in TTL mode on the TX, I can change the EV value (+3 to -3) on the TX but nothing changes on the flash. Is this the way it's supposed to be since it's on ETTL or should I be able to dial it up and down?

In case it hasn't been answered - FEC set by the C-TX is NOT displayed on the flashes. But the C-TX settings are applied to the camera's output before being transmitted to the individual flashes.

Have a look at page 39 of TOYUG - Group FEC and Global FEC. (Link is in my signature.)

I don't think it's a stupid question. You are correct, the 622C will only trigger and will not adjust the AB-400. The AB is a very, very recent (in fact those were the first pictures I'd taken using anything other than my speed lights) addition and I already had the 622C units. But, as I said before, I didn't use a 622 to trigger the AB. I used the optical slave trigger that's built into most monolights. Since I used it for my main, it was easy enough to adjust manually and turn off while I sat in the model's chair and adjusted everything else remotely from the 622-tx.

CliveBoy,

Thanks for the effort on developing the TOYUG. It's a great resource.

For those who purchased YN622C recently, we have added a YN560 mode to YN622C transceiver.

To enter this mode, hold down CH button and turn the device on. Then YN622C can receive commands from YN560-TX and update/trig the flash on it. The color of status LED is orange to indicate that YN560 mode is on.

And, we improved the PCB design of YN622C-TX and believe that it's as good as YN622C now.

Do you mean in range?

Can we differentiate the new PCB YN622c-tx from the device date sticker?

Yeah I was thinking that. Would replace my TX in a heart beat if I knew for sure I was getting one of the new ones. Not sure I could guarantee this when buying from eBay. Should make it a mk2 version so you know what you're buying.

Wish the 622C could act as a 560-TX as well, especially since it supports that "proxy mode". Even if it couldn't do both at the same time...

Would be an easy and very cheap way to add an extra light, even if only manual - 560-III are very cheap on fleabay.

Many thanks indeed, Mr Liang!

How can we recognise the updated YN622C and YN622C-TX?

PS - have ordered a C-TX for testing. Someone else will need to report on the Y560 mode.

I have ordered a new YN622C-TX from hkyongnuophotoequipment on eBay, with the instruction to ship only when the new pcb version was available. They have advised that it is shipped! I hope they sent the right version. When it arrives, I will repeat range tests.

In the meantime, I have version 4.10 of TOYUG being prepared, covering more clearly the interoperability of the 560 and 622C systems.

How do you check which firmware version you have? And how critical is it to have the latest version?
