Thanks for advising me, OVF. I checked, and there was an exclamation next to the file. A dialog said "deemed inappropriate... cannot be shared".

I saw a link to ask for a review, and did so. Within a minute, the exclamation disappeared, and I was able to again access the sharing options.

It would be helpful to know if the link now works. <-----------

BTW Phil's link also should take you to the current version - 4.09, or 4.10 if Phil has received and processed my email .

It works now Clive. Thanks.

  • Yes, link (below) updated. Glad it's proving useful to some folks - I too had difficulty with the Google link on occasion, hence my little contribution.
  • Much appreciated, Phil.

I have revised/corrected the links at the end of TOYUG, and have included yours. Hope that is OK.

    Hey guys, small help needed.
I myself am not new to wireless flash and have 3 Canon 600EX-RT's and ST-E3 RT controller.

The issue is a friend of mine really liked off-camera lighting shoot I did for him and wants to slowly get into it but is looking for a cheaper way to do 1 off-camera speedlite lighting for now.

I know YongNuo makes good flashes and wireless triggers, but I don't know much about their selections.

The question. - What wireless trigger and Yongnuo flash would you guys recommend for 1 off camera lighting that is relatively affordable?
Of course I am talking about radio triggering and it would be necessary for the flash to support HSS as well.

I am thinking the YN568EX II speedlite and the YN-622C-TX controller. That would cot around $220 in total. Would that be a good combo?
Or I can advice him to get the new 600YN-E3 RT flash and YN-E3 RT wirelesee controller. That would cost around $300 in total, ,aybe that's better, only $100 more ...

    Any help greatly appreciated !

    I'd recommend these! :-D https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=17354852 <---shameless plug. :D

But seriously they're great. One on the camera and one on the speedlite and he'll be good to go. They're easy to use and this thread contains more info than he'll ever need.

He's right though. A pair of yn622c and an ETTL speedlite is the way to go.

That's what I'm starting out with (YN500, YN622c-tx, YN622c). I like it so far, but, I'm thinking of adding another flash too. :P

    Some of my feedback

I'm currently using multiple YN622C units sitting under YN568EX II with a YN622-TX and am very happy with them. But if I were starting over I'd opt for the 600 series flashes and transmitter. I'd advise your friend to go that direction as soon as the supply loosens up a bit.

I downloaded two pdf manuals from their site yesterday - very slow, and no progress indication. I left the second download running and came back half-an-hour later to find that it had in fact completed. Persevere!

PS - with the release of an improved pcb, there may also be an update being prepared which is blocking access temporarily.

Hey Clive, has your revised 622c-TX already arrived? I'm also having some range problems with mine and want to replace it with the updated PCB. Thanks.

I am thinking the YN568EX II speedlite and the YN-622C-TX controller.

The 568exII does not have a 622 receiver built in. So he would need the 568ex and two 622'c (they usually sell in packs of two) or a 568ex, one 622c and one 622c-TX

I have not yet received the new YN622C-TX - shipping takes around 3 weeks, espexially at this time of the year. I am not certain that stock with the new pcb is yet available. And, Mt Liang has given no further information since saying that the C-TX "is as good as the 622C".

Well just got annoyed with my Tx due to its shorter range compared to the original 622s (and after a lot of misfires during a wedding shoot), decided to disassemble it to look for and compare the antenna with the orig 622. Based on the photos that I've seen here the original 622 uses pcb trace for its antenna (i didn't open my 622s, just the Tx), while in the Tx a multilayer chip antenna is used which can be located on the upper left of the lcd assembly. I wonder if this could be the cause of the shorter range vs copper trace. Unfortunately there's no branding on the antenna so the specifications cannot be determined especially the characteristic impedance (for possible replacement by other alternatives or a hack maybe).

Still waiting for the redesigned pcb board though.

I have just received a YN622C-TX "with new pcb" from hkyongnuophotoequipment. Serial #65030714, dated 11/2014, firmware 1.05.

I believe that this is not the updated pcb, but have yet to open the case. It will go back, as it is not as ordered. However, a quick test down a wooden-fenced drive produced reliable performance up to 49M/159Ft. That is after the 1.04 firmware fix which improved range. The latest released FW is 1.06.

    I will seek clarification.
