The main problem with the 420EX is that zoom follows the focal length and you can't manually control it.

My question is, I'm buying two that were bought from B&H this year and they don't have a build date in the battery compartment That would suggest that the units have been opened for some reason. only a serial number. Is there a way to look up Yongnuo' serial numbers? Not to my knowledge. The only use that YongNuo seem to make of the serial number is to determine who in the world is responsible for service/support. Prices to distributors and dealers vary on how much liability they take over from YongNuo. It must be tempting to take full liability for end user service and get maximum margin, then not supply the service. Clive, and Great G/D Abbie

For example, my new units (3/2015 date code) behave as follows: When I hold CH SET down and power up the unit, the A and C1 lights blink 3 times and then when I let go of the CH SET button the power light comes on – red. Maybe it is supposed to be orange, but it's the same color as my older units... Is there a way to look up Yongnuo' serial numbers? Yongnuo very carefully position the Date of Manufacture label over the 5th case screw within the battery compartment. I've heard mention of this being removed and placed elsewhere but have never managed it myself - they're quite delicate and certainly absence would most strongly suggest that the cases have been opened. You can't open the case up without virtually destroying the label - I'd surmise that this is kind of the point of it's position Image hosted by forum (729696) © Whortleberry [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. Serial number? As Clive says, it's more of an internal admin thing than anything users can utilise for anything other than identifying individual units. There has been a change in style of serial number since the early one - originally it was printed in black onto the '3V CE' label while later versions have the number etched/stamped into the plastic case itself. No idea when the change took place though I use the last four digits on an external label simply to differentiate which unit is misbehaving (not that any of them ever have done, just a precaution) although the main ID used is just a single digit. The units are then used left to right (from camera position) in ascending number sequence. But serial number? Nope, I'm sure they're mainly for reference at a very simple level as far as we're concerned. The YN-622C does NOT have any means of user-updating the firmware. I'm sure this is a typo and you mean the YN-622C-TX - the transmitter with LCD screen middle bottom of my lower pic (below) and not the transceiver. Of course I am not re-selling mine, I just wanted to keep the sticker intact for reference. They have the NiCAD rechargeable battery paks that are advertised to shoot 500+ full power pops per charge. I cannot confirm the exact count, but I have never had them run low. Only once did I see the battery level indicator register less than full charge, and that was a long session which was probably 250+ pops. It has a guide number of 58, and has all the features of the top speedlights (HSS, Sec Curt, TTL, etc), and are very well made with a high quality feel to them. Have you used the 860's with the 622c triggers? I am considering getting a couple for weddings but would like to confirm they work with the triggers I use. Also, the Neewer 860s are the same, right? I have used four Godox 860's, all with the 622Cs, and the 622C-TX on camera. I also had a 430 EXII as the 5th light. All worked great together.

NewCreation Goldmember More info | Thanks for the reply. I have two yn568ex ii, but the battery life on these units has me intrigued and think it would be great for what I'd use them. My name is Brenda ~Saved by grace, walking by faith

Yeah, me too. Each one comes with the battery and a charger, so you wind up with plenty of chargers. You can buy additional batteries (I think they are Neewer brand) in case you think you'll need more that 500 pops per flash and want to have spare power at the ready. I guess that's the only down side, that the batteries are very good, but are unique to the flashes. You can't just send the bride's nephew out to the store to buy more AA's if you are using more flash than you had planned.

Using the same power up sequence on a 2014 unit causes no visible indication; the power light just comes on.I got mine today and this is exactly what happens. The light comes red as well. I'm getting the YN568 II and two YN560 IV next week. I'll test this whole compatibility thing then. 5D2 | 50mm f1.4 USM | 85mm f1.8 USM | 135mm f/2L
