Ettl and exposure compensation is what I anticipate too. The 7d2 has one button to get to the flash menus

Also, are there any compatability issues with the 7d2?

And thank you, too.

You are right about the shoe/foot problem. It has become clear that the slightest mismatches can produce variable results, and endless discussions. Care with insertion, and working the connection to polish the contacts can often produce a reliable operation. There is an ISO standard, but it is outdated and not adhered to. Add in design and manufacturing variations, and we are stuck with the current situation.

For the cost, I don't mind varances. I do wonder if I unknowingly damaged this one.

I am confused by one thing. Since the 7d2 has internal flash menu / control, What's the point of the TX? Basically, amazon has a kit with the 622c and TX, as well as a pair of the 622c's. Trying to decide which one to get since I am only working with a single flash now.

The tx allows for more groups and adds some functionality to older flashes like the original 430ex, 550 ex, and 580ex.

That should not have passed quality control! I would not risk any hotshoes by inserting it. Have it replaced.

I'm not sure when I purchased this one, though. :/ I'll use it under a flash off-canera, I guess.

And ability to offset a bit of timing when shooting HSS with a monolight. I think the TX as be use as remote shutter also (although I have a hard time using it that way). But I agree with the question though generally there isn't much different for most usage. I would say most likely you don't need the TX until you start to out grow 622c. But I do recommend having a spare 622c around. Things can break in the field and having one extra does not hurt.

If you are not sure, and want to use it off camera, then might as well tape the pins just in case unless the light stand shoe is plastic.

Can you explain this? Would a metal cold shoe effect things?

What I'm trying to say is, let's be safe and if the shoe is bend, the pins may touch the metal and it may not be good for the flash/trigger.

OK. Fair enough. I already marked it with an "x" so I don't accidentally try to jam it into the hotshoe on my camera. I can grab a bit of tape to cover the pins as a precaution. I wouldn't have thought of that.

Is the support for the 560-TX and the quick lock foot the only difference? The quick lock foot will be nice.
