I haven't really been keeping up with prices of 7D's. I know they are coming down since the 7DII is coming.

Is $999 a good deal from B&H for new ones? It also includes 16GB card.

Yea, it's a good deal for a new 7D with a warranty I guess, but how do you know it's because the 7DII is coming and not just because it's a 5 year old camera? Heck, the 70D was release less than a year ago and is basically the same price body only. I think the 7D is a bit overpriced for how old it is. I think prices have stayed high just due to it's popularity over the years.

Well I'm not going lie, the $999 price point for the 7D is probably seriously luring in a lot of people to buy the body just for the price, myself included. But getting the 7D now would be completely contrary to my goal of saving up money to go FF. So I must say that all of your points ring true in this case. When the 70D rumors were circulating last year and the 60D came down in price, the 60D was a legitimate deal in the sense that a person could upgrade from and older or lower end body to a good body for not too much money (at around $599 price point). With the 7D though its still $999 for a five year old body so its less of a value for money proposition.

That is how I feel too. The 5DIII is definitely on my wish list.

You know, for someone who still has a rebel and is looking to upgrade, the 7D at this price would be a good move.

I would really like to have one for by backup instead of the 40D. But like I said, I want to have FF someday, so I keep the 7D & 40D I have now.

B&H and Adorama also have the 7D + 28-135 USM kit for $1099, but unless you are really going to keep and use the lens, or try to sell it off for more than $200 I think the body for $999 is a better deal in terms of flexibility.

The 7D may have came out 5 years ago, but it's still a great camera! Sure, the rumored 7D Mark II will have a bunch of new features, but it will probably cost somewhere around $1,450 - $1,800. So...if you're in the market for a APS-C camera that has a very fast frame rate and a very nice autofocusing system, then the current $999 price point is a pretty good deal. And especially so for those looking to upgrade from the Rebel series.
