I'm not usually one who paints with light or messes around with dramatically lit night shots, but since this couple got married on the 4th, it seemed fitting. When the fireworks began, I had to adjust several times for composition and lighting. I wanted the shot to look somewhat natural as I hate the spotlight effect. The final result was a 600EX to the left, gelled red... and a 600EX directly behind them for some rim light. The light trail is the result of my wife running around them with a GL-1. Not entirely sure I like it, but the couple did...

The couple got married at Piney River Ranch (beautiful venue) and we made this shot on our way back to Vail.

I've rarely seen a better shot on POTN.

Truly stunning!

Very well executed. However it's a bit busy for my taste. I keep looking down toward the fireworks thinking I'm going to see the dinosaurs in their final moments before they go extinct.

LOL random as?!

Great shot, personally not sure on the lighting trail around the couple - but the technical side of the photo is perfectly executed!

All I see is an erupting volcano with burning lava pooling on the side of the mountain ready to consume the city town below. In the foreground, a loving couple who may be the only ones who survive the catastrophic forces of nature. Or perhaps they didn't survive? I guess we may never know.

I like the trails around the couple, but given more time I think it could have been perfected to something more artistic. Looks sorta random and incomplete. That's the only component that I think could be improved given what you had available.

Great timing and light capture.

That is an awesome shot! I like it. What was the exposure time Trent?

I somewhat agree with this. While fun, its not really anything we would push as wedding photography.

I also agree.

I don't know if I would consider it a heir loom... but more of a conversational piece.

10 seconds at f/14 and ISO 320. The fireworks are a bit hot, but the 600's were maxed out on power. Ideally I would have been ISO 200 with some more juice from the strobes.

Did you fire the flash just once? Would a quick double fire work?

Great shot. I'm also not a fan of the light streak. The image is beautiful without it.

Beautifully captured the fireworks behind the couple. Everything seems to be just fabulous. Very creative work done by the wedding photographer.

I like this although I'm not sure about the light trail.

The image seems slightly tilted, tough. Look at the vertical lines in the trees and the grasses to straighten it.
