Just bought 6d and looking for a good travel and landscape zoom
My choices so far are.

Tamron 24-70 2.8 vr
Canon 24-70 f4 is
Canon 24-105 is. Not so keen on this lens

Which one should I go for and are there any other lens i need to consider
Would like is or vr but not a must.
Would consider some primes but could be a bit of a pain whilst traveling

Canon 6d, 7d2.
Canon 50 1.4, 28mm 2.8 is , 24-85, 24-105, 70-200 f4 is
Sigma 150-600

I have one, and it is superb on any body I own.
Its not perfect, but what lens is?
It is great for just about any application I have run across.
Believe it or not, its great from sports to portraits.
Its a tool in your toolbox.
Its not the sharpest knife, but it will serve you nicely.

I don't have the Tammy, but I have a good friend who has it, I've used it for a while. It's quite superb. I've also had the 24-105 for year. Like some extra mentioned, it's not the best, however It is very versatile. I was impressed with the Tamron, especially with its iq and vc. The bokeh of the Tamron, to my taste was just eh. I think if you buy it used at about $950 it would be a good deal.

Sounds to me like you're set on this one, regardless of what people say about the others, so why not just get it?

For travel, I like to have the versatility of a longer zoom range than a faster lens, which is why for my crop I decided on the 15-85 and when I just bought a 6D I got the kit with the 24-105. I may consider a 24-70 2.8 eventually, but my kit also includes a decent selection of primes (28 1.8, 50 1.4 and 100 2.8) that I've got the fast lens needs fairly well covered.

While acknowledging my bias against the 24-70 VC Tamron, I do wonder what your need for a 2.8 is because the weight and size of the two 24-70 models is considerably greater than the more versatile 24-105 (an excellent lens, btw).

Weight:

Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 = 825g

Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II = 805g

Canon 24-105 f/4 = 670g

For travel, I'll take the 24-105 any day. For low light, OK, the f/2.8 lenses (or faster).

Good sale on the 24-105 right now. If you want faster, throw in a used copy of the 35 f/2 IS and have the best of both worlds.

I had in past in order :
Canon 28-70 2.8L
Canon 24-105 4L IS
Canon 24-70 2.8L I
Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC

The last one is the best (very sharp, almost as good as the Canon 24-70 2.8L II for a fraction of the price WITH VC).

Recently I sold it as the range isn't so spectacular, went again to a Sigma 35 1.4 Art prime.
1 step back = 24mm, 2 steps forward = 70mm

If I would ever re-buy a standardzoom it would again be the Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC.
But I find it more interesting to be able to go to f1.4, I like fast lightweight compact primes.

So I advice you the Tamron ;)

Yes that's a great combo well worth considering. I want to keep my kit as simple as possible. I just got the 6d a week ago . I got a 70-200 f4 is. Nifty fifty 1.8 that keeps falling apart . 24-85 which is quite old so I am looking to replace that one with either 24-105 or 24-70 and a 35 is would be a great addition.

I would like to get another 50mm anybody recommend one with is better build than the canon

I can see the advantages of a prime , I've been walking around with the nifty 50 1.8 and I have really liked it , the camera is so light ,razor sharp pictures and a fast aperture , I am def going to get another 50 for the 6d , some thing that isn't going to fall apart
