I wonder if anyone can help... I'm looking for a large bag.. top-loading. (not a backback)

I'd like to keep my camera and mounted 70-200 2.8 inside...plus room for another lens/flash or two. (and some pockets for accessories)

Price... I would like it to be less than 75$. (can$, but whatever)

Thanks!

Hrm,

Will be hard to find something that can handle a mounted 200 F2.8 to an SLR, top loaded, with room for another lens and two flash units.

Everything I'm looking at that can fit that camera & lens meets criteria except for the extra room for a 2nd lens and 2 flashes.

Very best,

Pity you don't live in the UK!
I used to use a LowePro TLZ AW to hold a 5D with a 100-400 or 70-200 F2.8 attached. I had it on one of LowePro's S&F Light belts with a pouch attached to hold my 24-105. My TLZ came with a shoulder strap to help distribute weight (replaced by a Think Tank strap = more comfy). On the other side of the belt I added a Hama pouch (23328) that would hold either the 100-400 or the 70-200 F2.8.
This setup carries very well with no aches and pains as well as holding focal lengths from 24 to 400mm.
Unfortunately I simply cannot fit my 1DX in! Hence it is no longer used. I suspect shipping to Canada is impractical.

I got the Tamron Small Messenger (in Orange, which looks great!). It holds my 7D with 70-200 mounted. Next to it I have 400 f/5.6. On other side is room for another lens or flash unit. Says it holds small Mac Book but I don't own one. Top zipper gives access to camera without having to open noisy (because of the Velcro) flap. A few inside pockets. Nice padded strap. Haven't used it in the field yet because it's been raining for the past few weekends. Well made and camera insert is removable if you want just a messenger at times. Great bag at about $105.

I had similar requirements and after outgrowing a couple of not-so-cheap bags, one responder to a similar thread said to shop for an insert, and put it in a bag of your choice.

So, what I opted for was a relatively cheap, medium-size 'gym bag' at Walmart, and then found a very customizable insert that would fit. The bag is irrelevant as to model, size, etc. Mine has both a shoulder strap and closing hand straps, as well as end pouches and a single side pouch. I found just the right insert at Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com …eywords=camera+bag+insert (external link)

I can even put my tripod or monopod through the hand straps lengthwise when I carry either one. And for travel, I put 1 or 2 lenses into individual Lowepro cases, and after packing the DSLR and anything else, I still have space to pack some clothing on top as 'camoflage'. A simple black carry-on size 'gym bag' attracts NO attention whatsoever.

Check other Think Tank as well - I have the Think Tank Photo Retrospective 20 Shoulder Bag and it fits plenty - including a 5dm3 with 70.200.f2.8 attached hood reversed. Also try using greentoe (search on this forum) as I was able to get a 170 bag for 110 or so several months ago.

yes - square like bottom so no problem there - plus the bag as some flexibility with the material so it holds a ton but still is compact. Only problem then if your over fill and need to carry it around... with the weight lol

Lowepro Toploader 75 AW (external link) might cover your needs.

I carry my 70-200 mounted and my 24-105 in a slip-lock Lowepro lens case on the side, and my 430EXII inside. There is room for another flash in the front pocket, or you could use a 2nd lens case for 2nd flash.

My T2i fits in there with the hood out on the 70-200, but not my 1D3. For the 1D3, I bought a cheap tulip lens hood, and cut it down to 1" depth. Now the 1D3 body fits in the bag, but I don't need the cap on the 70-200 so I can draw quickly.

The bag works great as a shoulder bag, but I also use it as a chest pack for skiing and backpacking, and it's brilliant for those situations.

I found a good price on a used 7 million dollar home. I'll go have a look.

I didn't expect to get a messenger bag, but it looks pretty good.

TT retrospective 10,20,and 30 can handle it, but barely. Gets pretty heavy and tiring without a backpack. Toploader 75 works too. the but need attachments if you want another lens or flash.

I have both retro 10 and toploader 75 currently. The 10 can fit a 24-70, 70-200, flash, and a good amount of accessories. At first, thought the bag would be too small for a 70-200, but it works, even with body mounted. That bag expands, so it really can hold a ton of stuff, despite the small looking size. I imagine you can probably fit a piano inside of a retro 30.

Bags are so subjective. What works for one will be another's nightmare.

Personally, I took Jon, the moderator's advice and picked up a Domke F-1X with the US Post Office shoulder pad. I also replaced the insert with a more linear 720-230 so a gripped camera can lay on its side with the telephoto lens parallel to the insert.

The problem is price. It's much more expensive than the OP's stated budget. I can say... it holds way more gear than you'd think and with the shoulder pad, it's easy to carry.
