They're decent consumer grade/kit level lenses. Sell them as a set on ebay for $175/200, and then buy the Canon EF-S 55-250, and a nice dinner.

Or, trade them to me for the 55-250 IS. PM me if that's an interest to you.

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?
Digital - 50D, 20D IR Conv, 9 Lenses from 8mm to 300mm
Analog - Mamiya RB67 Pro-SD, Canon A-1, Nikon F4S, YashicaMat 124G, Rollei 35S, QL17 GIII, Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex 1st Version, and and entire room full of lenses and other stuff

That depends on which 80-200mm he has.

I would sell this lens though OP... nothing particularly special about it, though it's not going to sell for much.

the iq is pretty good for an old lens. and its between a focal length I don't already have. And I probably won't ever sell the 80-200.

Then why ask our opinion?

I'm sure it's decent, but it's for sure nothing to write home about, it's basically a kit lens.

This website might be a good starting point for general information about your Nikkor lenses:

Here is another review of the 28mm zoom:

There's a lot of old film lenses out there that are still good today, but most zooms from the film era were not very impressive, especially the lower end ones in the standard zoom range. Generally AF film lenses aren't ideal for adapting to Canon cameras right off the bat anyway due to the bad damping and short throw of the focus ring.

If you poke around in the MF adapted lens thread you could find some very affordable vintage lenses that would mostly keep up with modern glass. I shoot almost entirely with vintage lenses on my 6D and am very pleased with my results.

I've still got 'old' Nikkor lenses going back to the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s with image quality that will blow you away.

Age has little to do with it.
