Has there ever been a manufacturer's rebate for the Canon 200mm F2.0 IS? I suspect not.

To me this lens blows the 85mm 1.2 out of the water, and might be worth the price tag. Just wondering if Hell will freeze over before a rebate is offered.

I seem to remember rebates on it..3-4 years ago. I stopped following prices so much though(as i ran out of money). Can't tell you about any "recent" rebates on it.

Yes, there was a $500 a few years ago. The price was $4700 after rebate. A friend bought two at that time.
Now price has increased so much that I paid the same price for a used copy last year.

Just checked and we get a nice discount on canon through my work. 200mm f2 IS is more like $1000 off. Of course I will have to pay tax for buying through canon. The refurb price is even better though very hard to find in stock.
