It is because "men" want the woman to be perfect, "woman" then do all they can to be perfect. Those that do not make the grade grow up and continue to look at themselves as second rate.

They have brought into the lie that men have created fueled by magazines, fashion, movie tycons.

I have to say it... but isnt changing ordinary women just enforcing the trends men and women are seeing in magazines everyday. Magazines take beautiful women and photoshop them until they are idealistic and for lack of better words unreal. I love to show truth in my images but I primarily shoot nature. I believe it is honorable to try to make your wife feel good about herself. Personally, my girlfriend has a lot of issues with how the media portray women, how everyone of them are perfect, and how everyone expects ordinary or "real" women to look like these fake ones. In real life no woman will every look the way that some women look in photographs after manipulation. I have seen lots of photography of ordinary women, with exceptional lighting and amazing compositions that I would rather look at any day compared to the nearly or completely naked, plastic-filled, photoshop created women. I just wish there was some other way than changing your wife into what the media says a woman should look like by means of photoshop. That will only show her what she and every other woman is unable to achieve. I looked at the link above from irondad and it kind of made me twinge; he already had beautiful women but felt the need to even alter them further often into unachievable barby figures, where women look as if they could crack in two. If the shots were achieved in the first place with these beautiful women there would have been no need for a lot of this...it is an art in itself but not fair to the women we see everyday. Sorry for the rant but i wish things were different. I'd say tell your wife she is beautiful in every way and show her she is beautiful and that you love her the way she is but dont make a barbie of her because that will not be her. Doing this even though with good intentions may be seen negatively as what you would like to see your wife look like and showing her how her work has failed.

Well I have come to realise that between the 2 threads I have started in the last couple of days there is only 1 thing that needs to change.

ME

I look at the 1 print I have of my wife and what stands out is how she posed. It all came togather in 1 shot.

I need to learn how to bring out the best in her. After all is that not every photograhers job no matter what the subject. To bring out the best.
