Anyone know the difference between these two ad-360's?

I would guess that the one with the whit background is a pre production or early model and the one on the orange background is the newer one. The two CL-360s I got this week are like the orange background. Check out the "a new bare bulb..." Thread (first post) on the first page of this forum for an old pic

seller has one rating in the last 12 months, wouldn't touch it.

I'm confident the seller just has the wrong pictures posted.

The description of the product says AD-360 but the picture of the product is an AD-180. The 180 is roughly half as powerful as the 360. I'd clarify which product the seller is really offering before buying. The 180 has two small separate red windows on either side of the body face containing the AF assist lamp and the slave sensor. The more powerful 360 flash has a large single panel on the front face containing both the lamp and the slave sensor.

Thanks everyone. Dave, is the 360 strong enough to overpower the sun, through an umbrella at 10 feet?

i just took delivery of 2 CL-360s, and haven't/won't be using them with umbrellas, but through an umbrella is not a very efficient use of light.

with a more efficient modifier, the 360 will easily do the job.

Your looking about f/14 at five feet and its almost f/5.6 at ten feet using an umbrella. You need a high output reflector or move the flash in really close to tame the sun.

maybe i spoke too soon, because it kinda depends on what kind of light you're looking for. I bought one of these https://www.cheetahstand.com/product-p/q33wbd.htm (external link) and one of these https://www.cheetahstand.com/product-p/qs43.htm?1=1 (external link) to go with the new lights. Again, i've only had them for 4.5 days.

with only the inner diffuser on the 43, the light given off by both is similar. Diffused but still providing a little punch. I think the collapsible BD will be great for outside in sunlight and possible wind. It's not as deep as most BDs and is not real harsh.

i tend to like the look of a box with only the inner diffuser. It's not too soft but not too hard. The big "lip" and seems to make it more efficient outside.
