Hi all, me and my gear is here in afhgan for some time, and I’d like to get a thorough cleaning and any focus adjustments needed done to my body and lens.

Being I’m in AFG where is the best place for me to ship my gear? Back to the US or is there a reputable shop over herein Asia or somewhere just as close?

And for those who have sent their gear in for cleaning and repairs, what type of cost is this? Is there a generic price/labor sheet anywhere?

Thanks for looking and any advice..

-James

You can adjust the 7D's focus with any lens, can't comment on cleaning though as I have never been to Californistan, and I do my own cleaning. Good luck

Do you really want everyone posting "sorry, can't help..."?

I'm sure there are plenty of good shops in Asia because that's where they make the stuff, however have you checked on cost effectiveness when it comes to shipping? I know you're military (feel like I've read that in your other posts). Do you get any discounts or privileges when it comes to shipping stuff back to the States?

we have UPS and DHL here, nothing any cheaper than what it would be back home.

If you're an United States citizen and have a mailing address I'd just ship it back to Canon in the USA through your APO (military USPS). All you need is your CAC card and another form of ID with your picture on it. If you're at a remote location they should have what they call mail rodeo's for sending stuff out once a month.

Hth's

And no, I don't know of any Asia repair facilities near Afghanistan.

If this doesn't would go to Canon's website and use "contact us". Email Canon USA and ask them for a recommendation.
