I have a Benro C2692TB1 that I am very happy with. It is great for travel, easily fits in my suitcase, quick and easy to operate and is very sturdy. It looks like the 3 legged thing model you are looking at has basically all the same features. However, the Benro is $200 less. Might want to look into that as well.

Howdy, I work with 3LeggedThing, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

We're still small and relatively young as a company, but a lot has changed since our first 'Brian' and there is some exciting stuff coming soon, too... (Punks, for one)

Anyways, any Q's please yell out.

Just to clarify, 3LT is designed in Stagsden, England and manufactured in China.

Have fun!

Sime

I think that tripod purchases are more difficult than other types of photo gear! Seems to take a lot of time and effort to find the right model for one's needs and preferences.
Having said that, after weighing all the factors, I decided to go with the RRS TQC-14 and use my RSS BH-40 with it.
I'm happy and comfortable with my decision.
Thanks for all who chipped in with opinions, observations, and suggestions!

Congrats, nice choice.

You're right - so many options!

Now, out and shoot! :D

Best,

(Punks, for one)

I've been thinking about getting a VYV as I want something compact, there are some favourable reviews of your other tripods, and it's the only one in your range I can afford for now.

Unfortunately, there's not much info about the Punks range on your website or anywhere else on the web. It would be great if you could provide a few more details about the range.

Are Punks just shorter tripods with a new smaller head? Are there any other significant differences from other 3LT travel tripods? Thanks!

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread!

Yeah, I already saw that. From the specs it just seems slightly shorter. Was just wondering if there were any other differences and why they have their own category on the 3LT website.

We've tried to keep the cost down on these two, they're made slightly differently but still carry the same w'tee and load capabilities.

Sorta like this - Brian is our 5DMK3 and VYV is our 50D.... or, err, yeah, sort of like that.

Hope that helps.

It seems to me that there is too much focus on ease of use, weight, travel, etc. I use a tripod for one reason...to capture a tack sharp image. I just don't see a tripod with 5 leg sections and a telescoping center post providing the required stability and vibration dampening. I will accept lugging a heavy tripod over a light one if it means getting a sharp image. Some other things to consider besides performance is construction, durability, reliability and customer support. Do enough searches on the net and you will see which brands have problems and which which don't. I want a tripod that will perform in the middle of a running stream, or in a high wind. Having said that, if any one knows of a light travel tripod that will do all of the above...please post it. I'm still looking for the perfect set of legs.
