I had to run into town, seven miles, twice over the last couple of days and both times I took the camera along. I've been burned before and have now learned my lesson. On the first trip I came upon a broad-winged hawk and today saw a gray catbird. The catbird is a large crop, but I'll take it as I had zero images of one up until now.

Fantastic captures and I really like the catbird. The catbird look a little underexposed but beautiful.

Love the Catbird Al. As you know, my Hawk ID skills can be lacking, but I'm thinkin Red Shouldered, am I wrong again?

Thanks, Craig; I'd love to get as close as you did to a catbird.

Thank you. At your suggestion, I tweaked the exposure on my original a bit and it does look better.

Thanks, Bret. Red-shouldered hawks have not been reported in our county, though they are in the next one south. Having said that, I believe it is a broadwing.

Nice shots. I especially like the hawk since I've only seen them high overhead during migration.

Thanks, Ken. I've been closer to them, but the light was great in this case and I like his hawkish surveying of the ground.

Great stuff Al, haven't seen the cat bird around here this year yet, they were much fun last year. The best shot I got last year was when she had young and had to stay close.

Thanks, Jeff. This is the first time I've gotten a decent look at one and they are certainly more thrasher-like than I would have thought.
