Thank you all - the first is my fave too.

This is the place; Google Maps (external link) - it's a spot of green in an urban sprawl, used by bird watchers, mountain bikers, walkers - it's public park land.

I usually start my stroll by a couple of smaller ponds that hosts a Heronry, but the 20 or so birds must of completed their nesting season and moved on (except for four juveniles).

It had been raining earlier in the morning so I missed the early bird breakfast (I take mixed bird seed to attract the woodland birds). So after a disappointing start to my walk, I set myself a 5 picture macro challenge...

I found this tough "out in the wild" so decided to walk down to the larger lake - glad I did as I finally caught the Grebes with fish.
