New Apple graphics tablet / monitor

I found a promo link to Apples new technology.

Its a short video, demonstrating the product.

And softwares will cost $100,000.00USD per license.

Based on just that website link, a don't think it's Apple's technology. Video itself doesn't mention Apple at all. And that site seems questionable for reliable news. Beside, there is no way a company could patent mutli-touch screen functionality itself. Would have to be the hardware, software, etc... Which means whoever does or did get a patent would still have competitors.

I would love something like that as well. Would be fun to work on developing new software to take advantage of that. Though I doubt the keyboard and mouse will replaced in the next 10 years. But who knows.

Talked to my brother last night. He says he saw the patent filing but that it was not a granted patent yet. It was by Apple, but he also couldn't remember off the top of his head how specific the patent filing was.

Based on that info, it does indeed look like Apple is possibly the first to file a patent related to this technology, but I still haven't seen anything that solidly shows that Apple will have any exclusive supremacy over the multi-touch screen concept.

Very cool video and I hope that something reaches the mainstream consumer market soon. 2006 would be cool... but within the next 2-3 years would be cool too.

Looks like a lava lamp screensaver

Looks like much more of a software thing than a hardware innovation. Pressure sensitive touch screens aren't new, although admittedly they all seem to cope with only a single point at a time. But how hard can it be to deal with multiple points? It does look cool, but aside from the demo - can any one think of something really useful to do with this?
Oh - and if I push my finger into the screen of my laptop it makes pretty colours too
