*70-200mm 2.8L
* 24-70mm 2.8L
* 50mm 1.4
* 85mm 1.2L

* three speedlights

* plenty of memory cards
* light meter
* assistant

* Practice

That's all good, but you're forgetting the most important thing. Talent! I can buy the finest musical instrument made, study under the best instructors, and practice for hours on end, but I will not be a great musical artist unless I have "the gift". There are many well-trained photographers out there able to shoot technically sound images, but there are just a few artists that can create magic. A wedding photographer, especially, uses more than the above.

Well sorry for taking so long to post but they got married and It was outside. The wedding was really nice and took place under this huge redwood tree. Here are some pictures.. I shoot a total of 572 pictures. Here are a few. Hope you all like them.

Not the worst, but cut the crap with the white vignetting and selective color. #2 is your best exposure / light / post process.

Yes. Much better. The lighting is a little dappled (spotty) on her face and the lens is a little soft with so-so bokeh, but there's nothing you can do about that now. Just watch out for incomplete shade in the future. If you want to do this in the future, consider better gear, but for the most part, you could have done much worse - I had the exact setup as you when I started out five years ago and took a quite ugly picture of one of our gubernatorial candidates. Cheap lens that would do a much better job would be the Canon pancake 40mm f/2.8 STM as long as you can get closer with your feet. Try out that and a 24 STM for a few pennies each, and that should up your lens deficiencies like crazy until you can afford decent zoom glass. STM's are the way to go if you're on a budget.

Like, I mean your subject's (bride) eye is out of focus. That's not really professional or pleasing. Might be user autofocus error, but could also be a factor of your camera body and lens, first place to start, the lens. After that the body. If it's not user error.

I was still learning the camera. I have since aquired a mk1 50mm and the ef-s24mm f/2.8 stm. I like shooting primes much better. I have also learned how to shoot with fill flash e-ttl since than. Lots or reading and trial and error.

Nice. I like the 40 STM over the 50mm f/1.8, but at least you have the 24 STM. Fill flash isn't going to help all the time, especially if your flash is on-camera. Sometimes just finding solid instead of dappled shade is the best option.

Tenacity with an open mind always pays off! I am glad it went well.
