Okay, with the theme "Things that start with "A" I could not not do this: Amsterdam.

I'm such an idiot. We had sun and blue skies earlier this week. But temperatures were tropical and it was just too hot to cycle to where I wanted to go. So I waited until the weather turned. Well, it turned all right. Wall to wall rain! It was dry when I left home, but it didn't take long for the rain to come back and when I came home I was soaked down to my skin and needed a hot shower to get warm again. But anyway, here's a pic of the river Amstel, the river that runs through the city and after which Amsterdam is named. Dark and gloomy. And the two blobs in the lower left corner are raindrops on the lens.

Adjacent to the river is "Amsterdam Amstel", a Railway Station. With the rain and the darkness, I decided to go inside.
I thought this was a fairly decent shot and I really wanted to add something more cheerful than the other shot, so...

Actually, what I really wanted and what I set out to do, was making a panorama shot of the city. Adjacent to the Amstel Station there are two skyscrapers (well, for us they are anyway!) and I hoped they would allow me in. Well, they wouldn't, which was a real bummer. So hence the river shot. I could have gone to the centre, to Dam Square, where there are one or two somewhat taller buildings that are accessible, but the weather was simply too bad. :oops:
