https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13

After beta testing Pekka brought this forum live April 1st of 2001. I guess that means an anniversary is coming...

Anyway, it was interesting to glance back at the humble beginnings of what we have out here today. Very few members said much right away and I could not find anything stating the purpose this forum was created or why.

So let me just say, "Job Well Done"!

Through all the time spent moderating and maintaining a sight such as this, I'm sure there are not many times you get a pat on the back to show appreciation for your work as well as the moderators and others that also help keep this place going strong.

Thanks

I guess photographers are not too interested in history. I thought it was interesting that it appears one person had an idea to start this forum up and with great success. I think it's one of the better managed and more interesting forum's I have ever been a member of. I know there are other good photography sights on the web, but this one keeps moving at a pretty good pace, has great members and never really gets boring.

Randy, perhaps you need to wait more than an hour until someone responds...

But other than the lack of patience, I agree with you. This is a great place.

What do I need patience for when I can talk to myself?

Mega Dittos!

A piece of trivia I found out thanks to your posting, is that "Mike K" is the oldest - since April 5th, 2001 - active (last post 6 hours ago :https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=1193874#post1193874) member (besides of course "Big chief Pekka")

Wow!!

Well, all I can say is POTN is the best forum, by far, that I've ever had the pleasure of visiting in my 150 years of computing! (well, almost)

I really mean it. Pekka built a winner and with almost 5 years of operation it's still run very professionally. I know the Mods help a huge amount on that but Pekka built it!!!
