I bought a refurb SL1 during the last sale to use as a nice lightweight body when I am out shooting real estate for my brother-in-law. I've paired it with a 10-22mm lens to give me a nice wide perspective.

My issue comes when I am trying to do video. I set the camera on a tripod and take 8 second, slow pans of the different rooms. I have my "Continuous AF during video" option OFF. I pre-focus on the spot I want, then push record and start my pan. During the video, I can hear/feel the lens trying to adjust focus as I move the camera laterally.

My 5dmk3 nor my 6D have every done this. Anyone run into something similar?

Does it have an af/mf switch on the side? If so put it on manual focus. Maybe it's on auto?

I believe in order to do what you want to do, you'll need to focus, then switch the lens to MF.

You can disable "Movie Servo AF" in the menu.

Does the lens have a AF/MF switch? If so, slip the lens into MF and manually focus. As you are shooting wide depth of field should cover any focusing differences when you pan. Shoot in manual using a shutter speed of around 50th (depending on your frame rate, your shutter speed should be double the frame rate) and a relatively small aperture. F/8 (even F/5.6) should cover any focusing differences as you pan. Auto ISO will also work with these settings.

I've been playing around quite a bit with manual focusing with video. Auto focus video is nowhere.
