Hi, im looking for a light travel bag, I need to order one pretty quick for an upcoming trip, and ive seen a lot of Domke bags on the internet, they look amazing, My main bag is a TT streetwalker pro, but I'm planning on travelling light, 1 body/2 lenses, either my 5D2 or 5D3 with kirk L plate and a lens attached and another lens in the bag, the lenses in question are the 24mm 1.4 II and 35mm 1.4, plus room for 2 spare batteries, lens pen, cloth, and memory card tuffbox, now my question is which Domke bag would fit this kit?? ive seen several nice domke bags but have no idea of sizes, there are no shops anywhere near me that have any in stock so I would be ordering online, your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Domke F3x without a question. You didn't mention a grip, but with or without one, I'd make the same recommendation. Your misc. other stuff would fit in the front pocket leaving the end pockets for water and/or travel guides.

i own the domke f-6 and a f-3 both of these bags work very well for the kit your talking about, ether bag works grate in or around town, and holds my 5d-3 with 24-105/4 and 35 1.4 or other like size lens on the inside of the bag,i tend to use the f-6 more because its easy to work out of its only 7'' hight and you can pack alot of stuff in it,its been around a long time, had mine all most 28 years now, love the domke bags most of all.

I don't have the F4AF, but I do have the F7 Double AF, which is essentially the F1x length and width on the F4AF height. I think that the F4AF would be bigger than you need for what you've identified as your gear. Basically, it's deep enough to take a body with 70-200 f/2.8 IS or 100-400 mounted, or an unmounted 300 f/4, vertically. You'd have loads of extra space with it.

Confirming the above...

I've got an F-4AF, and love it.

I would run a 7D with a 17-55 mounted, a 10-22, 70-200 f/4, and a 100 macro all in the main compartment - very comfortably. Filters and flash in the outer compartments, and misc goodies in the front pouch.

Fantastic bag. Perfect for me and that size kit.

Then I bought a 1D. Hmf. Just never felt 'right' in that bag.

The F-3X holds a body with lens vertically in the middle, with two lenses flanking on each side. So I can easily run with the 1D w/24-105 mounted, 100-400 and 14 Rok in each lens 'sleeve'. What it doesn't like is the 1D w/ 100-400 mounted - a tad too tight for my liking.

Now then, the F-2 will swallow all kinds of gear. In all kinds of combinations.

FWIW, the F-3X would work great for the gear in question, and the F-4AF would handle much/most of the gear in your collection.

I don't think you could go wrong with either choice. I suppose it'd boil down to what all you want to carry, when.

Just my 2¢.

Heh, can you tell I like my Domke's?

I blame Jon. :-)

I have a couple of Domke's (F-1) and F-4AF. You won't go wrong with F-4AF

It's always Jon's fault when it comes to the Domke bags. I have a bunch of bags, a lot of lowepro bags, too. There is something very rugged and wonderful about the Domke bags that is worth the money. I use all my bags, but love my Domke ones. Report to us when you get it. Interested in what you think.

Hi Suzie, The Domke f4 Pro arrived, first impression is its a very very nice bag, the inserts are very nice, very good quality and offer a nice level of padding, the 5D bodies with Kirk L plates fitted and either the 24 or 35 mm lenses fit perfectly, and there is still plenty of internal storage, I was surprised how much storage the outer pockets offer, loads of accessories storage, The Bag build quality is very good, this may just be the best bag investment other than my think tank ive ever made, I can see this wont be my last Domke bag either :D
