We need to circle the wagons financially so I've decided to sell two lenses and a camera bag. I've purchased all my gear new so I don't have any idea what site(s) would be best for listing my gear.

I don't want to break any forum rules so I won't list any particulars (since this isn't a classifieds section) - just looking for recommendations on where to list my items......thank you!

Why don't you sell them here on POTN, in the selling section?

Craigslist too if you're in/near a good sized city.

The classifieds section here is great and I've had good experiences both buying and selling here.

Craigslist is ok, as long as you are careful about avoiding scammers and have some patience as I find that people often flake. Also, try to do in-person transactions at a safe, public location if you're dealing with more expensive items and cash payment.

Finally, there is Ebay, but I only use that when I can't sell something here or on Craigslist. The fees really cut into how much money you actually pocket.

When I sold a camera for $1400, I met the buyer at a branch of my bank and deposited it directly. So not only did I not have to worry about getting jumped on the way home, his face was on camera just in case.

Agreed - meeting at the bank is a good idea when dealing with a high value sales transaction. I've sold 2 cars through craigslist and both transactions were completed at my bank. One buyer bought with a cashiers check and another bought with cash. I would not have wanted to carry around that kind of cash around for any period of time.

I recently sold my 17-40 on Craigslist. My plan was to list it on Craigslist for a few days before listing it here, in hopes of a local face to face no hassle cash sale before going to a listing that would involve shipping, Paypal or other, and fees for either party. It worked.

You could also consider FredMiranda.com. They do charge an annual fee if you're selling (no fee for buyers), but items seem to sell faster there than anywhere else I have tried. I've listed items on this site, Craigslist and on FredMiranda about the same time and they always sell faster on FM. I've bought and sold a number of items on FM and have never had a bad transaction.

Canon 7D, 5D, 35L, 50 f/1.4, 85 f/1.8, 135L, 200L, 10-22, 17-55, 70-300, 100-400L, 500D, 580EX(2).
Sigma 150 macro, 1.4X, 2X, Quantaray 2X, Kenko closeup tubes, Yongnuo YN685(3), Yongnuo YN-622C-TX. Lots of studio stuff.
