I have a set of ~100 photos I want to send to someone else complete with my edits. These photos are part of a larger catalog so I simply cannot export the entire catalog.

Unfortunately I didn't have "write to XMP file" checked in catalog settings when editing photos. Is there a way to generate the XMP files now? It seems like when I googled a solution for this everything relied on the XMP files being written to, is there another way to share my settings that I'm missing? Thanks

The simplest way is to use

"Export as catalogue".

To just write out subsequent changes to xmp, select requisite images and just use ctrl-s.

My wisdom is learned from the experience of others.

Select the photos you want, and in the menus there's an option to "Export as Catalog." That will export ONLY the selected photos into a new catalog: A new .lrcat file that includes all your edits, and if you check the box to include the original files, it'll make copies of all the original image files.

I'm not in front of Lightroom right now so I can't include specific steps.

This should cover most of what you need:

Thanks, realized the export to catalog after. Actually All these photos are in a single folder so I just right clicked on the folder and did a "Export this folder as a catalog".

I'm not clear -- are you saying that you've answered your initial issue?

Lightroom users have ways of "flagging" pics for different uses so that for the future pics can be filtered and selected for those uses...

Just to be clear, it is called "Include negatives".
