Wow Ian what an unusual colored bird. I sure hopes he is not limited by his color. At least he can always find a good meal at your feeders. I am sure his coloring will make him quite visible to predators. At least he will blend in well in winter.

Great job capturing a very unusual subject. Interesting that all of the Downy markings are there -just very faint.

Wow very cool.

Thanks folks. Just hoping he does OK, he is a bit of a target being so bright, plus apparently an albino's eyesight is relatively poor also, which may make it tough for him to locate food. He definitely has an uphill battle ahead of him.

Probably a once in a lifetime opportunity, seeing this little guy. I hope he makes it, as you say probably in for a tough life. Sure is pretty though, great shots Ian!

Thanks Mike! I've been watching a fair bit today but haven't seen him. I suppose Dad and Mom are showing him around the neighbourhood. Hope he comes back! I can't get over how many baby woodpeckers both Hairy and Downy there are this year.

Absolutely fascinating find Ian!
Gorgeous captures too with a special nod to the feeding image. I'd be most interested to see him/her after the first molt, but I'd suspect it'll be run off by the parents by then.

Thanks very much Steve. Lots more feeding images on my Flickr page. I'm still watching to see how long he hangs around.
