A couple weeks ago we saw the 1st hummingbird (for this summer) passing across the yard on his way to somewhere. Since then he has been zipping back and forth a couple times a day, but never slowed down long enough for a visit.

That changed this morning. He stopped long enough to sample a few flowers on the deck. The cloud just moved in to block the sun so I had to stay with pretty slow shutter speed to keep the ISO on the old 7D down. However, I was happy enough with these first hummies pictures of the season.

Linh:

Nice set, a strong first hummer shot. I like the goldfinch too.

The hummers in particular are great, Linh! Focus, colours, exposure, all good.

Thank you, all, for the kind words. This hummer kept coming back several times today. One other showed up briefly as well. It looks like the next several days will be hummer-days.

Very pretty collection indeed Linh!
Your attending songbirds look like those in my backyard as well and you have captured them extremely well. Glad the hummingbird found you too and you definitely did a fine job of showing it off. We'll look forward to more.
