Took a little trip last weekend in search of waves...instead of getting wet I just snapped a bunch of pictures. Here's a couple. CC welcome.

Thanks for the comments guys
sjobraid--I was shooting at 1/4000, the camera is a Canon Rebel XT, ISO 400, aperature 5.6, 18-55mm kit lens. The picture was enhanced a little with some photoshop.

very nice... I'm trying to figure out which peir that is. I'm guessing it's Crystal Peir, but then I haven't lived in Wilmington for about 12 years now.

haha... ok so that takes Johnny Mercer's off the list. Hmm. well the only other beach I ever remember having a peir was Carolina Beach. I was only at Topsail beach and Onslow beach one time each. I lived in Ogden and I was only a teenager then too, so I went to Wrightsville Beach 99% of the time.

For bigger he would have to wait for a storm.;) Nice shots Ben. I took some in SC earlier this year but haven't been to a NC beach for about two years.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. The pictures were actual taken at Avon Pier, in the Outer Banks. Went there in search of waves...and ended up shooting.

Beautiful. My family once spent a week at Sunset Beach, just north of Murtle Beach and that little area is quite nice. We loved it. Also love Murtle Beach, not the touristy part, but the public part is low key and wonderful. Next is the Outer Banks for us. We've been trying to get there for years. What do you recommend? We're in VA, so the trip wouldn't take forever.

Suzie,
I used to vacation there with my family when I was a kid. It was wayy touristy and crowded in the summer months. I've been down there in the offseason and it was still kinda overpopulated for my tastes. There isn't much happening in the Outer Banks. It's a really mellow and nice area...I don't know about stuff you can do with your family (in regards to younger children) Also, check out Topsail Island or Emerald Isle. Topsail is a nice place, that's really quiet and relaxing. It's developing though..and really quick. So get down there to spend a week with your family sometime soon. Emerald Isle is another low key area (Kinda like Topsail). Hope this helps,
Ben

Thanks. My husband works really hard and when we are not in UT for reunions, we tend to escape to the beach. My 8 and 6 year olds sons love the sand. They can be out there in the shallow water all day. I will definitely go on line and check those places out as I am a teacher and don't work in the summer. I can escape with the kids at any time and I do.
