I have a T3 and have an opportunity to get a T3i. I paid $200 for my t3 and can get a T3i for $300-$325. Is the extra $100-$125 worth the upgrade? I don't care about the megapixels but I do like the idea of a self cleaning sensor. The screen would come in handy when taking high or low angle shots.

I would also prly sell my t3 if I upgraded.

Based on comparison sites, the T3i has:

- better resolution rear screen, and larger
- more sensor resolution for cropping power
- 1080p video
- flip out screen
- better ISO performance
- better DR and color depth

That all being said, is that worth the price upgrade? Only you can answer that. I would, at a minimum, suggest adding just a bit more and move to the next Rebel model.

Assuming you are buying used, the price may be a bit high. You can currently get a Canon refurbished T3i with 18-55mm lens for $336 and that includes a one-year warranty. The T3i body only is $280 but is currently out of stock.

Now, if you live in the States, there could be further reductions to those prices. Do a search on this forum for Canon Loyalty Program for the details.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I may just stick with the T3 for a while and invest in the lenses.

Get better glass.

I still have an XSi that I shoot now and then, and with a good piece of glass (not even superb, just good), it still outputs very good printable material that no one knows came from a lowly junk camera like that.

Very best,

I really really appreciate self cleaning sensors. I lived without one for quite a while and was constantly fighting dust on my photos. Since I've moved on to models with self cleaning sensors I've not had one single solitary speck of dust in a photo.

I really didn't think I'd care one way or another about the articulating screen, but now that I have one I love it.

Yep, I've held onto my XSi also. When I upgraded the resale price of used XSis was so low that there was no real incentive to sell it. It still produces good images.
