I just ordered a refurbished S110 for $60 from Canon, using a link I found on Steve's Digicam site;

http://shop.usa.canon.com …urbished?WT.mc_id=C126149 (external link)

I've been thinking about getting a shirt pocket cam recently, so I jumped at the chance.

Edit: Disregard - I thought it was the S110, but it's actually the Elph 110. Bummer :-(

The link you posted isn't an S-110. It is for the Elph 110 HS.

The link to a real refurbished S-110 is here (external link). Totally different camera. Still, $60 is not a bad deal for the HS.

EDIT: I see you edited your OP.

Unless I'm seeing things way wrong, the refurbished s-110 is 254 in the Canon store, and a new one is on sale for 249 in the Canon store.

Another update: I called Canon 30 minutes after my order to cancel, and was told they would do it for me. Today I got a shipment notification, so I called again. They apologized for not calling me back yesterday about not being able to cancel. So today I was told they would send me a return label to send it back when it arrives. I thought more about it, and may keep it, since $60 is cheap for that quality, even though it's not the S110 HS. I have 14 days to try it and return if I want my money back.

I checked owner reviews on Amazon and everyone seems to like the little camera, so maybe I will keep it? We'll see after I get it. I would like a shirt pocket camera, or even a pants pocket size that can produce decent results. Maybe it will be fine for my needs.

Well IQ wise the camera is like any other 1/2.3" sensor equipped point and shoot by Canon, but the biggest thing I've found with the 110 HS is the quality of the video recording. Apparently lots of folks on YouTube (professional vloggers and such) have used or still use this model for vlogging. Just a thought! :-)

I'm not in to video too much, but I may be tempted to change... I also have the small Gorillapod tripod, and recently got the GripTight Micro stand from Joby. These may be helpful in low light and other situations. I also have the Metz 28 CS-2 slave flash that could add needed light to improve results. All this will keep my little "kit" small and light when needed. Time to get out of my bigger camera rut for a while...maybe.

I mentioned the small tripod options above, since I read a review that said using a tripod made a dramatic improvement with this camera in lower light situations.

The Elph 110 arrived this morning, and I've been learning how to make it do what I want. So far, I'm impressed with this little guy. Here are a couple quick shots edited in Picasa. I'm thinking I'll keep it as my small every day camera.

Don't worry, you're not the only one that though it said S110 for $60 - and then thought: SHUT UP and take my money!!

Yep, it looks like it was a "good" mistake. I see the price on this refurb is back up to $150 this week. Now my wife is thinking this camera is looking good too, and may finally want to replace the A620 with it. This may lead to some tension over who's camera it really is now... :-)

Well now Canon is offering a refurbished S100 for $130. Tempting, but I'll stick with the Elph 110 for size and convenience. The images from the S100 would be better, but I have four other cameras for "better" images.

I'd love to see some S120 refurbs soon at a good price, or news of an update S130 (if there might be one).

I took some photos this morning in direct sunlight using a tripod. I had read this dramatically improves image sharpness with this model, plus I used a 2 second delay timer. I'm impressed with how it handled direct sunlight and the details in these Macro shots. They look better than my G9 or G11 can do, and I shot in full Auto. I couldn't ask for better results from this little Elph 110. :)

I'll definitely be keeping this little camera.

Dude, you should keep it. You got a freaking awesome deal on it. Why would you return it??

Yes, it was an awesome deal, and I see it is now selling at $120 vs $150 last week. I initially wanted the S110 with the larger image sensor, RAW, ND filter, and it's other features. However, now that I've had time to work with it, I can appreciate the great algorithms in the Digic 5, the lens, the image sensor (though it is small), and convenient size/weight, etc... It's certainly much easier to bring it with me all the time vs my G9 or G11. Used carefully, I am getting impressive results. I also carry the Joby Micro Hybrid tripod in my pocket for situations that need it. I also use this with my other cameras, even my NX20. Joby's Micro Tripod is a little smaller, and would work great with the Elph cameras.

Yeah, I know what you mean about wanting the RAW ability with compact cameras. But it's not that big of a deal. For pictures that we need *.CR2 files for, we use our good cameras. I want the S120 too, but I'll probably wait. I am a big proponent of large sensor sizes, and so if I get a little all-in-one compacts, I'll probably get the G1X. At least that one has a sensor size that is really close to APS-C.
