I am new at this so i dont know the names of most of the birds im posting, but these are some of the shots i have taken at backbay in newport CA. all were taken with the 20d and a canon 400 5.6. im still learning so C&C are welcome and appreciated.

The white birds look like egrets to me. And your shaking head raptor (nice timing on the picture) looks like an osprey, bit I'm not sure! Some people here will certainly be more able to answer you ![]() Agree with Egret (Snowy, judging by black bill) and Osprey .. first thought the other raptor was a Mississippi Kite, but don't think you're in its range ... so it would probably be a White-Tailed Kite ... and the last pic could be a Virginia Rail ... the small yellow bird could be American Goldfinch. www.pix2go.ca
