Why is there a rule against commenting on prices? Doesn't this mean that an unethical seller could take advantage of a newbie buyer who didn't know a fair asking price. It seems like we would have an interest in preventing this from happening.

Often commenting happens at reasonable pricing, too, when someone "wonders" that "hey, you can get that from El-Cheapo-Con Camera" for few dollars less - that just is not helpful. Asking price is what seller wants - if that is accepted by the buyer then all is well.

Another perspective: because the forum is international, an expensive second hand item by US standards might be "very cheap" in Europe.

Buyers should always do price comparing and Google for prices.
