Thanks. Histogram is good, but I'll have a play with upping the exposure. Nothing I could do about he bokeh unfortunately, due to lack of space. I'll look at getting a smaller backdrop for future shots, so hopefully this won't be a problem again hehe! buphoto wrote in post #17050697 Hey! I did take some shots from a higher angle, but didn't like them as much as these two. Scott

What I would do, however, would be to bridge the distance between myself as the shooter and the baby, and increase the distance between the baby and the background, for a nice isolating background blur, i.e. bokeh. I find the pattern in the back distracting and unnecessary. Yep. I'm not a fan of the pattern either. It won't be an issue again, as I'll be getting a small roll of paper for a backdrop.. Cheers for the comment LisaLacroixPhotographer wrote in post #17057469 To get the baby's face up a little higher I would really stuff the basket (with diapers, or receiving blankets) and then use the baby's hand under his cheek to separate it from the fluffy blanket so that you can see his face better Good luck. Newborn photography is difficult and finicky, I know I tweak what I do each time I shoot to make the image more flattering ![]() Thank you for the tips. I've got a lot to learn, as I have next to no clue about posing, or composition in portraits etc!?! Thankfully, it's learning this stuff is enjoyable! Scott

MaureenSouza Ms. MODERATOR Something Spectacular! More info | Babies are much harder than one realizes; the bottom line is that parents want to see all of their baby if possible so getting whole face in the picture is crucial. I did a baby last weekend who hated being un-swaddled and hated every position I placed her in. Took 2 mornings to get the shoot done Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.
