Hi
I like your work here... but I have 3 comments :
1. lack of light -mybe brighten them a little bit?
2. lack of nice bokeh
3. lack of color - they seem too "blue"ish to my taste..

Hey! These are great images, however I would have liked to see his face more. Especially in #1. :)

Thanks. Histogram is good, but I'll have a play with upping the exposure. Nothing I could do about he bokeh unfortunately, due to lack of space. I'll look at getting a smaller backdrop for future shots, so hopefully this won't be a problem again hehe!
When you say "too blue" are we just talking the blanket? Or do you see blue in skin tones etc too? I'm not using any calibration at the moment..

Thank you. I can see where you're coming from here.. I did take some shots from a higher angle, but didn't like them as much as these two. ;)

Nice pics. Can't suggest anything, since so much is subject to individual taste.

What I would do, however, would be to bridge the distance between myself as the shooter and the baby, and increase the distance between the baby and the background, for a nice isolating background blur, i.e. bokeh. I find the pattern in the back distracting and unnecessary.

To get the baby's face up a little higher I would really stuff the basket (with diapers, or receiving blankets) and then use the baby's hand under his cheek to separate it from the fluffy blanket so that you can see his face better :) Good luck. Newborn photography is difficult and finicky, I know I tweak what I do each time I shoot to make the image more flattering :)

Yep. I'm not a fan of the pattern either. It won't be an issue again, as I'll be getting a small roll of paper for a backdrop.. Cheers for the comment ;)

Thank you for the tips. I've got a lot to learn, as I have next to no clue about posing, or composition in portraits etc!?! Thankfully, it's learning this stuff is enjoyable! :D

the somewhat out of focus furry thing in the foreground is really distracting

Babies are much harder than one realizes; the bottom line is that parents want to see all of their baby if possible so getting whole face in the picture is crucial. I did a baby last weekend who hated being un-swaddled and hated every position I placed her in. Took 2 mornings to get the shoot done :(. But I got the shots she wanted which is showing off how cute her new little one is :)

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Interesting perspective. I didn't think of it like that at all really!?! Thank you for the tips ;)
