Would you feel comfortable purchasing a film scanner and having it shipped?

I'm going to list my Nikon Coolscan 9000, and I know it shipped fine when originally purchased, and I have all the original packaging, but I know that... because it is a sensitive piece of equipment... *I* would not be fully comfortable purchasing one second-hand and having it shipped. And to be honest I base my misgivings on unsubstantiated fear.

If I did ship it, I would insure it obviously, but I would also offer a good discount for anyone willing to pick it up in person. That peace of mind would be worth it to me.

If you were doing this, how would you proceed? Ideas are appreciated and welcome.

I knew some photogs who have it shipped used from Japan and no problems.

But, you most likely will sell it locally, if pricing is right.

I don't think it is more sensitive than most other equipment.

But like a laser printer or flatbed scanner, it might have been originally shipped with some internal parts taped to block them from moving/vibrating. So there may be a need to perform the same operation on this unit before shipping it.

I normally try to photograph new equipment when originally opening up the package, just to document any special packaging needs for later reference. It also helps to later keep track of the exact look of transformers and other extras.

Omg, your level of organization is scary! I feel proud of myself if I can find the box and the manual for something I've owned more than a week!

I just have too much stuff.

But I do know how to sort information inside computers real well - so my only way to keep track of chaos is by well-sorted computers :p

I do not remember opening up the box and unfastening anything.

Then you should probably be just fine with the transport.
