Wide angle lens

Okay just looking for some suggestions I've got a Canon 7D and want to get a wide angle lens, I will eventually get a full frame camera so I'm looking for something that will work for both. I'm looking for something $1,000 or under, any suggestions would be awesome ;^)

Sigma 12-24 is about your only option.

You didn't say if you want a prime or zoom lens. If it's a wide angle zoom you're after, the new 16-35 L IS has received rave reviews for $1200 (over your budget, I know). You can also pick up a gently used 17-40 F/4 for $5-600. There are third party options as well such as the Sigma 12-22 already mentioned.

The Samyang/Rokinon 14 2.8 UMC is another great option if AF is not a necessity, mounts to both crop and full frame. It can be had for around $300 new. Its "mustache" distortion can be easily fixed in post.

how wide are you looking...what else do you have right now?

Yeah how wide do you want it to be? 12mm is vastly different from 17mm.
