Hey guys, just throwing out some thoughts here and maybe get some advice.

I realised my least used lens currently is the Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 that I bought initially for events use but no longer do those (or I use the 14mm and 24-70 instead).

Does it make sense to trade it 1:1 for a Canon 17-40L, or sell it and top up for the new 16-35L IS? Those will be lighter and smaller, and can fit filters (as well as matte boxes for my video work).

Has anyone compared the image quality from these 3 lenses?

If you're not using an UWA now, what do you hope to gain by buying a different one?

FYI- read the photozone 16-35/4 review especially the conclusion:

That was a good read.

I still use UWA in films esp while flying steadicam. Any one of them will work well for my video, just that I haven't been bringing out the Tokina for photography due to its weight and filtration handicap. It's devaluing a lot just by sitting in my cabinet!

If video is on the list, I would think the 16-35/4 being stabilized would be awesome.

^ lens stabilization does not really do much when you are using a steadicam since the balance of the rig plays a much more important role than lens stabilization.
