Hello,

Has anyone been able to install and use the 20D drivers on windows server 2003? If so, can you please describe what had to be done to get it working?

Thanks in advance,

Jim Z.

There's nothing I can think of about Windows Server 2003 that would be incompatible with the software for the 20D.

This is a long shot, but could you give us some more information about what it is that doesn't work. Does it seem to install? If not, what messages are given?

If it installs, what symptoms do you get when you connect the camera - no window comes up, or what?

If possible, describe the situation where the steps shown in the manual pages W2 through W12 fail.

The camera itself is recognized and the drivers are installed but it is not recognized by any software, I tried PICASA, Microsoft Digital Image Suite, and CS2 so there is no way to get the pictures off of the camera itself.

I resorted to getting a $15 CF card reader which works wonderfully and, I must admit, much faster.

A card reader is the best way to go anyway rather than unloading direct from camera !

What you are saying makes no sense to me at all. If the software recognizes the camera, then it is capable of downloading the images. When you bring other applications into it, they are usually depending upon their import or the TWAIN software to actually download the images. That is usually accomplished by a configuration of the "acquire" or "import" mechanisms for the particular program.

So far, your description of the problem is of no help in diagnosing the problem.
Would you care to try again?

The only thing I can think if is that the WIA service is not running? Check in Services under Administrative Tools - if its not running then that would explain the lack of TWAIN devices in the software.

HTH,

That did it. Thanks a lot for your help. I am a software architect by trade and did not think of that.

Thanks again,

Jim Z.
