For those of you who are familiar with West Virginia, you may have heard of Dolly Sods Wilderness. For those of you who haven't heard of it, It's quite a spectacular place, filled with 17,371 acres of nothing but wide expanses of wild huckleberry plants, bogs, and stunted trees that seem to transport one's mind to Canada.

I was picking said huckleberries with my family, when a thunderstorm came rumbling up from the west, forcing us to make a very quick trek back to the truck. Once I was back there, I decided to do what ANY sane person would do and.......Climb on top of the tallest rock around with a camera and tripod to attempt to photograph lightning over this rugged and beautiful landscape.

Since lightning in the daylight is quite hard to get, I was reasonably pleased with the outcome. Let me know what you think!
Enjoy, -Darin :)

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

Wow, that looks like fun,... but I wouldn't have liked it getting any closer.

Thanks! It is beautiful here, I don't blame you for missing it! Whereabouts were you from?

I grew up in a small town called Ranson (right next to Charles Town) in Jefferson County. Moved away in 1991 to South Dakota (thanks parents :( ) and then joined the Air Force from which I just retired, which is why I am in Arizona currently.
