Curious what people's thoughts are on this laptop for editing purposes, the only major con I can see is that the display is not fantastic. It is currently on sale till August 1 through Dell.

One big plus for me is the fact that it comes with Win7 Pro (though with a license for Win8 and installation media). I would gladly put off the purchase but I'm also concerned that I won't have a choice about buying something with Win8 installed...

I think the specs look fine -- it's a good buy in the "prosumer" market. If you're fine working on a 15.6in screen, the hardware underneath (especially if you get the i7 version) looks pretty good for a laptop workstation.

Unless I'm missing it somewhere, the M2800 is not a touch screen....so the differences between Win 8 and Win 7 will be minimal at best. I've been running Win 7 Pro on my main i7 box at home for over 4 years now, and it works fine....and frankly I've seen zero need to upgrade for what I use it for. Chances are that M2800 will not even last as long a Win 7 support and updates, so it's a pretty moot point in my book.
