Was heading out of Sequoia National Park yesterday around 5 and found a bear coming out of the woods headed towards a meadow. Followed it, and after getting out of the car, parking, and going after, I found there were three cubs with it.

I have a ton of pics, but thought I'd share the 'best.' There was another black bear at the other end of the meadow by himself; appeared to be a juvenile.

So cute! I agree on #2 being the pick of the set! Was it the lighting that makes them appear brown? Our black bear cubs here are coal black.

From my understanding, the black bears in Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon are 90% brown/auburn/blonde. There are black colored black bears though.

There actually happened to be one further down at the other end of the meadow that was black.

She was nearby, didn't seem to care much about anyone taking pictures or anything. A few people got entirely too close, like possibly 2-3 ft close. I would say the closest I was, was about 10ft or so, but I also was off to the side and not in front of them.

I watched the mother though for awhile, got a good sense of what was okay and it all worked out. Probably still dumb on my part, but I gave them their room as they got closer and what not.
