This is a a 30 feet crashing wave on the coast of Ireland. I'd like to know what you think about the composition. As post processing I applied a cyan/sepia filter, sharpening, curves and frame.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan,
I think the picture would become more visually appealing if you fixed the horizon and darkened the photograph just a tad. I don't see an "IMAGE EDITING OK" button on your profile so I'm not going to edit it. If you want me to show you what I'm talking about I can...

I am on my way out the door to work right now. I will do it when I get back from work and post it up for you.

Excellent timing. Just straighten the horizon (as Ben mentioned) and you'll have a winner.

Here is my attempt
I straitened the horizon but obviously lost some of the surrounding area due to the process.
I darkened it too with curves.

I love these pictures. On the first pick: The only issue is that my eyes float to the top looking for the part of the splash that is not on the screen.

I really like the last two.
Awesome.

I'm sort of surprised you chose to share the first, when the second two are leagues better. The top of the wave is cut off in your first shot, which really irks me whereas your second two have lots of space in them, and not only that but context in that you get to see something of the surrounding rocks. The second two pictures are really nice, I like them alot, the first one isn't really doing much at all for me.

That's why I wanted some critique on first one as there was something in it that didn't go right. What I liked was the height of the wave: massive.
I like more the last two as well...

I'm with Richard too. The third one is much more interesting in the fact that the wave is rolling in. The first one is dominated by a wave that fills a third of the frame.

It suits black and white also.

Dan,
Those other pictures that you posted are amazing. I like those more than the one that I am editing as we speak. I think if you weren't zoomed in as far on this one particular shot it would have turned out much better. Anyways, here's my editing job...B&W might add something to it as well.

edit: Looks like I was a little half ass on the cropping after straightening out the horizon. (Look at the top left). But you get the idea. All I did was mess with the curves, fix the horizon, and unsharp mask.

All Canon, all the time.
