My neighbour is a great gardener....drifts of flowers everywhere, and lots of bee balm. This is a sampling of the action there this morning :

These are gorgeous Ian. I dream about getting images like these. Even the Bumble Bees fly past my "Hummingbird" friendly flowers without stopping and go to the Hosta flowers. Guess I need to hide the feeders! In the meantime, I will enjoy the Hummingbirds here on the forum.

Thanks Sandy. At first I thought I'd struck out, I was sitting there for maybe 10 minutes and you could hear crickets. But then the flotilla arrived, and they were everywhere. I thought they were going to join me in my car at one point!

I have 3 in my yard. They spend more time fighting/chasing each other than feasting on the flowers nearby. When they need refreshment, they'd drink from the feeder instead :-(

To make the matter worse, I recently sold my 300mm f/2.8. I am waiting for the delivery of my Tamron 150-600 (and waiting ... and waiting). As a result I only have the 70-200 f/2.8 to work with at this time. It's too short for capturing these tiny, fast creatures from a distance.

Oh well ... still trying to get a decent close-up hummingbird shot ... and still waiting for that Tamron.

Keep at it, Linh, they do slow down enough to eat, eventually. Good luck with that new lens!

Gorgeous, Ian. OK, she's the gardener and you're the photographer. Sounds like a great arrangement!
