I've maybe got 20 shots through it and out of the box it's underexposing in ettl. When bouncing off of a normal height white ceiling, with a diffuser, is it normal to have to dial in +1(maybe more). I have never been in to flash photography(complete noob really) and this is my fist go with the Canon system. When I was shooting a D600(& D7K) the SB600 pretty much worked without fooling with it. Thanks for any advice. I encountered this when I first got my 6D as well. One tip I got was to change from Evaluative flash metering --> average metering in your flash menu. I was having to dial in +2 in evaluative, and only about +1 in average. Strangely enough, after a couple days of using average, I went back to evaluative, and the camera/flash now seems to properly expose Mareckik wrote in post #17287403 It's normal that you loose light when you bouncing off or use any modifier, (2-3 ev stops) Yes you do lose light, but as long as your flash has enough power (and is in ETTL), it should adjust accordingly. Just wanted to follow up...was trying my 6D with Tamron 70-200 2.8 last night, and getting underexposure again. Approximately 2 stops under in Evaluative, and 1 stop under in Average.
