sirquack Goldmember ![]() More info | Not I, I am still running 1.1.3 so I can use Magic Lantern(ML). I will have to review the release notes on the firmware update to see if there is anything there that would make me want to give up ML. Name is Ron.

Dec 17, 2014 09:26 | #1939 what are the benefits to updating the firmware?

sirquack Goldmember ![]() More info | Sometime the firmware includes fixes to issues in previous firmware. Sometimes it rolls out new features for the camera. So you have to read the release notes to see if it is something that is worth doing. If you are having an issue that the firmware says will be corrected, then it is a good thing. But so far, my use of Magic Lantern would be impacted by going to new firmware and the Magic Lantern features are light years beyond anything in the Canon firmware updates. Name is Ron.

It's probably worth mentioning that depending on your current firmware version, you may lose your AFMA values when updating the firmware. I believe I was 1.1.4 and I had no issue after the update. TheInfamousGreedo wrote in post #17338393 ![]() It's been awhile... I did my first wedding ever on Saturday. It was for some friends of mine and I did it out of my good graces as I have never done this and I know they were on a budget. A few things I learned: * It's too much work to be free. * I do wish the 6D had more AF points - a few times I missed shots due to focus and recompose while people were moving. * The 24-70 2.8 ii is a much nicer lens than the i version - faster and sharper, plus a better build. * I rented a flash and I realized how difficult it is to work with light when you haven't a clue what you are doing. I bought a flash since and am planning to practice so I know what I'm doing. * I had a lot of fun. This is the bride and groom's favorite photo and the venue just called and asked me if they could use it for their new brochure (which is the first time they have updated it in 5 years - they said they hadn't seen this perspective before, which seemed odd to me. Regardless, an honor to be asked to use a photo from my first wedding.) (I have a lot more to edit and upload) Oh, random question: someone asked if I wore black to which I said no. They said it seems to be common for photographer to wear black to weddings - is this something I need to know? From the images it looks like you did a great job! Didn't seem to be anything I should be concerned with, but did it anyway. No problems after I got the extracted files in the right place on the SD card. I didn't use the EOS Utility. Gripped 6D, gripped 6D2, gripped 70D, 80D and a bag full of lenses.
