Funny you say that, before I bought mine I was told "It's no good for Aviation" "you'll struggle panning"

So I went and shot a moving plane at 1/40th... 6D no good for spots my ar....

Yeah Radders, I heard the same thing to about aviation, you'll struggle panning and it's too slow for the high speed stuff. Guess I must be using it wrong then just like you!!

I heard the same issues and concerns before getting them. I'll say this; it doesn't have the best AF once you get away from the center AF point, but that center point is damn good. It's able to lock on when other cameras can't. If you use back-button AF and are used to focus/recompose, you'll do fine. It's nice to get the kind of image quality you can get with the 6D, without having to lug around these heavy camera bodies all day.

TheCor, that is a really nice image. What type of lighting did you use. Natural (window, open shade) to camera left...maybe a reflector to camera right? Very nice shadow shaping. Nice subject, too! :-)

Ed

ETA: After looking again it seems the key light is coming from the left front. I'm a novice at lighting (and a lot of other things) and I'm just trying to figure out how it works in your image.

Yeah there's an open shade window on the left and that's it, no reflector :)

Thanks, TheCor. I'm getting some ideas for my newest granddaughter (#3  ). I'll have to wait until September, though, before she makes her grand appearance so I'm plotting and planning in the interim. :-D

Your photo needs a really nice frame. ;)
